SaltWind Rosie AKA ‘The SaltWind Guru’

Focusing on Natural Medicine, Yoga, connection with herself and loved ones as well as interacting with the Ocean, Rosie aspires to be the healthiest, most congruent Naturopath, Yoga Teacher and Kitesurfing Instructor she can be.
Recently becoming a mother, and with the support of her partner who runs the local Kitesurfing school, Undertow Surf and Kite, Rosie is balancing parenting with seeing Naturopathy clients within her clinic at Bundaberg Health Foods.
Rosie is teaching yoga at Bundy Yoga, with plans for running workshops that combine naturopathy, Yoga and Kitesurfing, in the future, the three pillars of SaltWind.
”It’s often the small, low cost interventions, that you repeat daily, that make the biggest impact to your mindset and wellbeing.” - Rosie Smith

Naturopathy

Rosie applies the principles of Naturopathy and herbal medicine, to support your innate healing power.

Assessing your history and current health state is essential to establishing a sound treatment plan.
Beyond the prescription, it is the therapeutic relationship and non-judgmental communication, that encourages a shift in values and promotes self-care.

Physical examination including iridology, tongue and nail assessment, as well as relevant pathology are considered.

Emphasis is placed on correcting nutrition, supporting body organs, structures and systems and addressing thought patterns or emotions that may be creating disharmony.

Yoga

SaltWind Yoga focuses on emotional and physical health.

Rosie travelled to Khajuraho India to the roots and philosophy of HATHA, before adapting her naturopathic and musculoskeletal knowledge.

Yoga helps you to feel grounded yet free from restricted range of motion; improving breathing capacity, regulating the circadian rhythm, correcting structural integrity and assisting organ function.

Be present and shift into a deeper state of healing, allowing your worries to dissolve, while supporting the rest and digest response of the parasympathetic nervous system.

Your adrenal glands will appreciate the extra love, as Rosie sings to you while re-setting your body in final shavasana with a blissful essential oil neck massage.

Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is a board sport where you harness the wind with a kite for a rewarding, spontaneous, fun experience which allows a sense of freedom and the ability to release over-responsibility for the weight of the world.

Kitesurfing moves away from defining health as wellbeing and toward health being the ability to adapt and self-manage in the face of social, physical, and emotional challenges, positively impacting all six dimensions of health; bodily functions, mental functions and perceptions, spirituality, quality of life, social participation and daily functioning (Azara I et al 2018).

Rosie has completed the Kitesurfing Australia Instructor course and is taking shadow hours with Andrew Ward from Undertow Surf and Kite (who has over 20 years experience), to learn how to become a successful instructor.
